President. in view of the inquiry of the Senator from Nebraska [Mr. Notuusl with regard to relatives. I call attention to thi� table from the report of the Commissioner of Immigration. Mr. Husband. which will throw a little light upon the subject. This table shows what we do not all realize. that the drawing power of immigration is in this country. Inumigrants coming to join relatives were 75 per cent of all those who came in. and immigrants coming to join friends were 10 per cent. so that 85 per cent of the total immigration of 522.919 came to join relatives and friends. Fortyfive per cent of the passage money was paid by relatives and 5 per cent by friends. The amount of money which these immigrants had in sight was $33.967.000. I think this table. which I will ask to have put in the RECORD. demonstrates that there is the closest connection between the foreign born who are here and immigrants who come over every year. I ask that the table way be inserted in the RECORD.
