That old custom Is passing away. and yet we aire asked to blame the Indian children for trying to please their own fathers and mothers. whom they love and respect as we do our parents. It is not to be expected that because a child is put through a hothouse system of education in some Indian school. that thereby we can change the whole nature of the tribe to which he returns. In time. by education. we will make out of the Indians a body of citizens who will be a credit to America. They will be better Americans and more loyal to our country than many foreign immigrants we are now trying to Americanize.
