I will say to the Senator from Missouri that I take it no one has any reason to complain about the reimbursement of the poor woman who intrusted her money to these officers. What we are interested in knowing is how such a thing could happen. and what provision of law there is that will insure that it shall not happen again. I call the attention of the Senator from Missouri to a fact which has struck me heretoforethat there is scarcely a call of the calendar when there is not a bill here to reimburse some immigrant whose money has thus been appropriated and disappeared.
