As to the tremendous figures quoted respecting idleness in the United States. personally I do not believe there are 2.000.000 men out of work in the United States. But if that be so. Mr. Speaker. is not that the very reason why you should not pass a panicky measure against immigration? Immigrants will not come to this country if there is no employment to be found. They are not wealthy men and women. They come here to find work. and if the work is not here. if they find that 2.000.000 of our own people are without employment. is there any probability that they will come along in very large numbers?
