At the request of the junior Senator from Illinois I introduce a joint resolution and ask that it be read by the Secretary and be referred to the Committee on Immigration. The joint resolution (S. .. Res. 134) to readinit Augusta Louise de IavenAlten to the status anQ privileges .of a citizen of the United States was read the first lime by its title and tile second time at length and referred to the Committee on Immiigration. as follows: Whereas Augusta Louise dc HavenAlten. daughter of the late Capt. Joseph Edwin do lHaven. of the United States Navy. a nativeborn citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of Illinois. married in 1886 Eberhard Alen. an alien of German birth and parentage . and Whereas the said Augusta Lois e de HavenAlten left Germany il 1911 and Iias ]ot since returned. and in 1912 suLd her said husband for absolute divorce. which suit is still pending in Germany. and has since 1911 lived apart from her said husband. and Whereas the said Augusta Louise de HavenAlten has since returned to the United States and renewed her residence therein and pelitioncd Congress to he readmitted to the status and privileges of a cit izen of the United States. under and by virtue of the power and laws of the United Slates of America: Therefore Resolicd.. etc..
