Mr. President. I merely want to cail attention to the fact that this matter has been before the Committee on Immigration twice. this being the second time. and. according to the record. it has been recommended practically unanimously. The necessity for teaching aliens. especially in the congested districts. the rudiments of our language and something of our Government and its institutions has appealed to everyone. I hope the chairman of the. committee will at least allow this amendment to be accepted and go to conference. in order that the conferees may take such action upon it as they may see fit.
