Mr. President. I introduce a bill for reference to the Committee on Immigration. I wish to call the attention of the chairman of that committee. if he is present. and if not to call the attention of the committee to the fact that it is a bill I introduced near the close of the last Congress. It was referred to the Committee on Immigration and favorably reported. with a recommendation that it go to the Committee on Appropriations for action. It relates to the maintenance of schools for the instruction of immigrants foreign born. The bill to amend section 1 of the act approved July 1. 1916. making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June 30. 1917. and for other purposes. was read twice by itstitle and referred to the Committee on Immigration.
