That is true. Now. we have enlarged the duties of this department by providing for. the employment of the unemployed. and this additional service imposes more work on the men employed in the service. I notice from the hearings here that this branch of the Immigration Service has procured in one year employment for 41.000 people. That costs money. That has benefited humanity. That is t great work. and it seems to tue that we ought to give the Immigration Service of this country all the money that is reasonably needed to rigidly enforce tile imnigration laws of the country. perform all other duties imposed onI that branch of the public service. and treat the inen einployed in that service -i on an equal basis with the men employed inthe other departments of the Government.
