Session #64 · 1915–17

Speech #640110995

Answering the very pertinent question of the chairman of the committee. I happen to know something about these people. They do desire to become citizens of the United States. and in many instances they have gone to the naturalization courts and tried to become citizens of the United States. The gentleman says some of these people have expatriated themselves. The gentleman is as good an American as there is in the United States. and I do not think lie would put a term of opprobrimn upon any person who left any part of the United States and came to the mainland of the United States to cast in his fortunes with us.
