But what were they to do? They were In a strange country..destltute of means. absolutely within the power of the party who imported them. and therefore they had to submit to and accept the situation as they found it. not as it had been represented to them. Unless immigrants are Interested In some way in bringing the guilty parties to justice. as the Senator from Kentucky has already stated. It is next to Impossible to sustain an action against the guilty parties. If these foreigners themselves are to be denied the. right to participate In the recovery. then there will be no means of obtaining the evidence except to go to the country from which they emigrated. and then you encounter the difficulty of finding a witness who is familiar with the contract.
