I have once or twice. given notice that I would submit some remarks on a couple of resolutions. I have postponed my observations for various reasons which have seemed to me satisfactory. I am strongly in favor of the -immigration bill. and will be glad to vote for it today or tomorrow or at any time when we can get an opportunity to do so. I would not do anything or take anyf time that would delay the passage of that measure. but it seems there is no prospect of that bill coming to a vote. and I do not. believe. if I should take perhaps an hour of the Senates time today. that it would postpone for one moment the final vote on that measuire. I am satisfied that the Senator who has charge of the immigration bill is in earnest and is trying to get a vote. but that. of course. is a matter over which he has no control.
