The gentleman from Washington [Mr. fluiPnrmiYJ. my colleague over there. a while ago reduced that practically to an absurdity. When it was suggested by the gentleman from Illinois [M r. MANN] that we should enact a measure here eliminating all kinds of products that were brought in from places where people worked at those low wages. my colleague suggested the shingle proposition. and at once put the people of British Columbia in the category of pauper labor. Of course that subject is so distantly related that it can not be considered in connection with a thing of this kind. Charity is charity.
