Session #63 · 1913–15

Speech #630136941

I am of the opinion that if the gentleman from Rhode Island will introduce the amendinent suggested by the gentleman from Massachusettsan ainbudment which was first proposed by meand it is adopted. we will then accomplish everything that hbe gentleman from Pennsylvania [Mr. Mooe] had in mind when he offered his amendment. I wish to say that no one on this committee is in favor of permitting the anarchist or the criminal to remain in our midst. and it has been the aim of every member of the committee to secure the passage of a provision which will not only provide for their deportation if once they secure admission but which will prevent them from entering. I yield to the gentleman from Pennsylvania.
