I will say this: That a few years ago. when signs of distress began to appear In the larger States and crowded cities. we undertook at once to conserve the resources of the United States. We put aside our coal lands. our forests. and other natural resources. and after we did that it was our duty to shut the front door. It admits of no argument. If we are to save what Is left of our country. our public domain. let it be for the posterity of the people now in the United States. foreign born or otherwise. The time has now come. in my opinion. to put up the bars.
