Speech #620199733

If the gentleman will permit. this proposition Is on all fours with the proposition which I presented to the House coming from Cook County. at one time. The law then In force In reference to naturalization. It was determined. did not cover the criminal court of Cook County. which for years. being a court of record. had been naturalizing citizens. In fact. It was almost the favorite court for that purpose. It was finally determined that there was some doubt about It. and finally. that probably no one of the people naturalized there were properly naturalized. I presented a bill and it went to the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. It was reported with a unanimous report. together with a good deal of Information in connection with the report. The bill passed the House and became a law.
