Session #61 · 1909–11

Speech #610105679

I only desire to state what the effect of the vote on the motion will be. The House twice. on a record vote. decided that the Immigration Commission should have $65.000 with which to complete this work and should complete it by the 1st of May. 1910. If the motion made by the gentleman from Massachusetts prevails. the result will be that the commission will have $125.000 and have until the first Monday in December. If his motion be defeated. it will be an expression by the House. to be followed by an appropriate motion. that the commission shall only have $65.000 and be restricted to the 1st of May.
