I might say to the gentleman that the objections which were made to this bill when it was up before by the gentleman from Illinois and the gentleman from Illinois . were that it might apply to trivial crimes. to technical felonies. and also American citizens might be "railroaded." These objections have been met by making it apply to men who are sentenced to more than a year and so that the actual deportation shall not take place until ten days after the arrest. This gives them the time for habeas corpus.
