Speech #590092011

Again. these people who are thus distributed throughout the country in small squads here and there mingle with the best of the population of this country and become more swiftly Americanized. become more swiftly accustomed to the language and customs of this country. and sooner become part of our population and serve to make our country homogeneous. as it ought to be. Therefore. Mr. President. I think it is of vital importance that when these immigrants come from the Old World in such masses as they do today. instead of allowing them to huddle in the large cities on the seaboard where they land and the large manufacturing centers. to take steps to scatter and distribute them throughout the country.
