I hope that the Committee of the Whole will vote down the amendment offered by the gentleman in charge of this bill . I have only a word to say in relation to the question. I listened with great interest to the reading of the fresh letter written by the gentleman who is contributing $20.000 a year. as I understand. to the United States Government. by rendering service for $5.000 a year when his services are worth $25.000. About all there is in that letter is the statement that the sale of beer is conceded to be injurious in immigrant stations. and it is conceded by William Williams. if I get his name right-
