I do not believe that there are any cases pending before the House on just a parallelwith this one. swill state some of the peculiar facts connected with this case. Mr. Hornick came to the United States from Ireland with his father whedn he was about eight years of age and located in the State of Illinois. There his father voted at elections. and from the general report in the family Mr. Hornick supposed his father was naturalized. and by reason of that supposed he was a citizen of the United States. In 1861. when r. Hornick was about eighteen years of age. he listed in the Army and served in the Army for about three years.
