In other words. the question as to whether the person should be allowed to remain here is a matter for the wise discretion of our Government officials and there it must be left. and we must give our officials broad discretion in such cases. The bill provides further. in the third section. where there is in this country a "trial and conviction of any foreignborn and un naturalized person of any crime or misdemeanor in any United States court." if it shall appear " from the evidence produced at the trial that such alien is an anarchist or that he is not attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States. and well disposed to the peace and good order of the same. and that his remaining in this country will be a menace to the Government or to the peace and wellbeing of society in general. such convict. in addition to other punishments adjudged. shall be taken before a commissioner of immigration at a port of entry. who shall order his deportation at the expense of the United States. to the country from which he came."
