These 11. including 9 Soviet Jews. were arrested and charged with attempting to hijack a Soviet aircraft on June 15. 1970. at Leningrads Smolnii Airport. The Soviets planned the trials of these 11 to be show trials. and apparently decided that there would be no semblence of justice for these who the rest of the world saw as living symbols of a repressive system.
