Session #53 · 1893–95

Speech #530132333

Mr. Chairman. I thank my friend for yielding. Lest anyone in this House believes that the 45member California delegation is not the largest. I am here to say that it is. in fact. the largest delegation here. Mr. Chairman. I rise in support of the PanettaMorrison amendment to the immigration reform bill. This amendment will create a new seasonal agricultural worker program. My interest and support for this issue is objective. My district is primarily suburbannot agricultural. However. this is an issue of great importance to the State of California. Fortyfive percent of the total annual agriculture sales from the State involve perishable crops.
