The Chair lays before the Senate a resolution coming over from a previous day. which will be read. The resolution submitted yesterday by Mr. MORGAN was read. as follows: Resolved. That the Committee on Commerce is instructed to inquire and report to the Senate the advantages. if any. that will accrue to the productions. industries. coastwise and foreign commerce. immigration. and other interests of the United States. by means of the additional facilities of transportation. and the reduction of the cost thereof that would be afforded by the building of a ship canal to connect the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through Lake Nicaragua.
