I wish to call the attention of the Senator who has this bill in charge to the services required of the United States attorneys in the district of Washington. He will bear in mind that there is an enormous amount of business coming from the high seas in that district. There is a groat volume of business thrown upon the United States attorneys growing out of the Chinese exclusion acts. There is also a vast amount of business thrown upon United States attorneys in that State owing to the position of the State of Washington. lying next to British Columbia and nearest to Alaska. There are four Federal courts held in the State of Washington. and the services of two attorneys are in constant requisition there.
