The question which I asked was. assuming as a fact that Congress had not passed any laws prohibiting the immigration of Chinese. and assuming as a fact that Congress had conferred the. right of citizenship and the right to vote upon the Chinamen who had immigrated to Oregon for the purpose of remaining there and becoming American citizens.whether. after the white people of Oregon had overthrown this Chinese government by one means or by another. he would be in favor of tbhe Congress of the United States exercising even its constitutionalpower to force upon the white people of Oregon a Chinese government which they hald overthrown. That has nothing to do with the question of the loyalty of the people of Oregon. It has nothing to do with �he American flag.
