Session #51 · 1889–91

Speech #510087092

Indiana has a comfortable. steady population. an agriultural population. and I suppose from Illinois there is a very much arger emigration. which accounts for the smaller number of pensioners rhich she has. notwithstanding she furnished more men for the war. There is another corroboration of this theory which does not. in order to account for this discrepancy. necessarily lead to indulgence in acrimonious and partisan debate. I think a Senator with a disposition to account for these facts as they are. upon principles which are honorable to human nature. will be amply satisfied himself upon further examination of the subject.
