Now. while bills are being brought in here from the Committee on Commerce with reference to property and to shipping. I invoke the earnest attention of that committee and of this House to the fact that bills are nowpending before that committee which concern the preservation of human health and life. This House did a graceful thing last week by passing a bill. at the request of the gentleman from Wisconsin. for the protection and safety of immigrants coming from abroad. In other words. this House has been generous as to the health and life of persons. The bill now pending before the Committee on Commerce. and for which I invoke the earnest attention of that committee -and of this House. has reference to the inspection of vessels sailing from our ports under foreign flags. which now escape inspection.
