In the past twenty years we have had an addition to our population of quite 2.500.000 furnished by Great Britian alone. Every year 300.000 to 860.000 foreignborn persons take up their abode in the United States. and a very largo majority of these are poor laboring people. Shall we close our gates upon them? A single month sometimes brings to our shores as many foreignborn people as there are now of the Mongolian race in our country after an immigration of thirty years. Why not exclude all? -Is thereno dangerof competition from this vast influx of laboring people from the Old World ? Nobody fears this increase.
