Speech #470037957

I wish to say in regard to this. that the reason I objet to the bill chiefly and finally is because it ehaneesesseutially our condition is a nation. It changes our conditiou beore the world. It istaking upon us an exclusiveness that has not belonged to uis in Ihe past. and for one I am not willing to do that. But. Mr. Speaker. permit me to say. in justice to myself. I hope my remarks have not been understood as favoring a further immigration of the Chine -e. I deplore their presence here as nunch as any atan. I have not been addressing myself to that branch of the subject.
