President, the Senate's advise and consent role is
one of our most important duties as Senators, and the Secretary of
State is one of the most important nominations we will consider. The
Secretary of State is America's chief diplomat, and he should project
America's values to the world. Yesterday, I joined Senator Schumer in calling for a delay on Mr. Tillerson's vote on the Senate floor until we hear from him about
President Trump's Muslim ban. Turning away refugees based on their nationality and religion is un-
American, it is illegal, and it is immoral. This Muslim ban is
propaganda for ISIS. It is a recruiting gift to terrorist groups around
the world and in our own country.
