Mr. Chairman. I rise today in support of amendment No. 74 in the en bloc. the Blumenauer Special Immigrant Visa amendment. I just want to speak to the program broadly and quickly. In Afghanistan. countless people put their lives on the line to serve as translators. basically being the middle person between American troops and the population we are trying to secure. Now. we promised them opportunity to come into the United States. but this process has been bogged down by bureaucracy. In fact. many have been in this process for years. and still in the first steps because of the bureaucracy on this.
