Session #114 · 2015–17

Speech #1140085643

However. there are some promising developments on this system. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016 created a dedicated source of money for implementation of the biometric exit. It has been estimated that this will result in approximately $1 billion in funds that will be used solely for the implementation of the biometric exit system. That is already in law and required to be a part of our legal and immigration system. Yet. even with this source of funding. hurdles remain to the implementation this system. My amendment will remove one of the biggest remaining hurdles to the implementation of the system.
