There is a doctor whose name is Noel Fernandez. and he recalls when his family arrived here from Cuba that the U.S. Government helped them a little. When they immigrated here 20 years ago. he was helped to find work as a landscaper. he was helped to learn English. and he was helped to complete his medical studies. Today he is the medical director of Citrus Health Network in Hialeah. Fernandez sees Cuban immigrants collecting benefits and then going back. including three elderly patients who recently left the United States for good. "They got Medicaid. they got everything. and they returned to Cuba." he said. "I see people that said they were refugees [from] Cuba and they return the next year." That is his quote. How that works is. people know you are traveling to Cuba. and they have relatives they want to get money to or clothes to or whatever. and so they pay you.
