Session #114 · 2015–17

Speech #1140075110

We need to defend it here in the House of Representatives. We have a task force now to address the executive overreach and will be defining the unconstitutional overreach. I am willing to accept the Presidents definition on the constitutional limitations with regard to immigration. When the President said he doesnt have the authority to establish and pass amnesty legislation. I agree with him. It is an enumerated power here in this Constitution that is preserved for the Congress to establish a uniform naturalization. and that has been defined by the courts to mean the immigration policies of the United States. If we get this right. we will have a Congress that is empowered more. but also an empowered Congress that is more accountable to we. the people. As Congress steps up and says lets claw that executive overreach power back into the House of Representatives and back into the United States Senate. what we are really saying.
