Mr. Speaker. I rise today to recognize the 113th anniversary of Korean American Day. which commemorates the start of Korean immigration to the United States. On January 13. 1903. 102 brave souls set course from Korea and landed in Honolulu. Hawaii. Since then. the Korean American community has been a vital part of our country. serving with distinction in the Armed Forces during times of war as well as contributing in every field from science and medicine to entrepreneurship and the arts. As their numbers have grown over the years. Korean Americans have become involved in local communities. organizations and politics.
