Mr. Chair. I rise today to speak in support of the amendment to H.R. 8 introduced by my colleague. the Gentlewoman from New York. Representative MENG. Racism and discrimination has no place in America today. We are a nation of immigrants that is proud of its diversity. And when we get the chance. we should correct the mistakes of the past. That is what this amendment is about. The Federal Code still contains language on ethnicity that is antiquated and inappropriate. Our society has progressed a great deal in the last 100 years. It is time for us to do the same to our Federal Code.
