Nevertheless. the administration has made it clear that. in spite of this. it will continue to seek to bring up to 10.000 Syrian refugees to America in the coming year. The Presidents refugee proposal places the interests of other nations ahead of the safety and security of the American people. Because we are unable to verify whether the next attacker is within their midst. we must halt the flow of any refugees into the United States from Syria. Mr. Speaker. in light of these attacks. now is not the time to open our borders to refugees from countries who wish to do our citizens harm. Congress stands ready to legislate or use the power of the purse should this administration refuse to change course on this misguided policy.
