This bill would have damaging ramifications for families across the Nation and in my home State of Maryland. I enter into the RECORD a letter from the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women. representing coalitions. organizations. shelters. services. and programs in every single State in this country. Mr. Speaker. I want to just quote from this letter. It says: "Fear of deportation also strengthens the ability of abusers and traffickers to silence and trap their victims. Not only are the individual victims harmed. but their fear of law enforcement leads many to abstain from reporting violent perpetrators or coming forward. and. as a result. dangerous criminals are not identified and go unpunished."
