Madam Speaker. as I listened to this debate and watched as some of the people talked about what our duty was and was not as Members of Congress. I thought I might come down and read the oath that we as Members of Congress take. It is simple. "I do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies. foreign and domestic. that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. that I take this obligation freely. without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion. and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. so help me God." Ladies and gentlemen. this is not about immigration. This is about whether or not the President has the ability to unilaterally run this country by creating fees and spending those fees as he sees fit. I would submit to you that he doesnt.
