I rise in support of the rule and the amendments offered to the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill. including the amendment I coauthored with my colleagues. Congressman ADERHOLT of Alabama and Congressman MULVANEY of South Carolina. Our amendment defunds President Obamas unlawful executive amnesty program for illegal immigrants. Now. when I was mayor of my hometown of Hazleton. Pennsylvania. I saw firsthand how illegal immigration can affect a community. I believe that my stance against illegal immigration was why I was elected to Congress in the first place. I am someone who has dealt with this as a smalltown mayor. I know what it looks like on the back end when the Federal Government doesnt do its job.
