He did so with full legal authority. just as every PresidentDemocrat and Republicanhas done since Dwight D. Eisenhower. Of course. the Executive Order is not perfect. and does not relieve uncertainty for every deserving family. But I am pleased that some 5 million people will be able to step out of the shadows. contribute to our economy. and pursue the American dream. This Congress still needs to pass a comprehensive bill to truly fix our broken immigration system. Instead of voting on this misguided and cruel bill. we should be having a vote on the comprehensive plan that we know would pass this House.
