We would not have the resources for other important priorities. including national defense. securing our borders. immigration enforcement. veterans health care. or education. Unfortunately. the budget that passed last year allowed the debt to increase by $2.5 trillion over the next 5 years. In other words. the message is consistent: We spend now and the next generations pick up the tab later on.
