A great realworld example exists in my own district in Washington State. which exemplifies the importance of science and math education. My district is home to several hightech companies. including Microsoft. In order to ensure the continued success of Microsoft and other similarly situated companies. we must take steps now to fix our failing math and science programs to make certain theyre able to hire the very best and brightest and we dont have to rely on a failing immigration and visa program to coax highly skilled and trained workers from overseas. I believe we need to continue to emphasize math and science throughout a childs education. During a speech before the National Governors Association at their 2005 Achieve Summit.
