The Social Security Administration has put out information that says you cannot verify citizenship by a Social Security number. There are millions of Social Security numbers that are not numbers for citizens. There are millions out there that are nonwork Social Security numbers. and there are millions out there that have been given to people that are here on work visas. student visas. visitors. you name it. for one reason or another. so they can get a drivers license or buy insurance. or maybe qualify for a benefit. millions of Social Security numbers that do not connote citizenship. And the only standard that is left. that is required in this curent bill is you have to submit a Social Security number. And it is implied. it might even be specific. that it be a valid one.
