Session #110 · 2007–09

Speech #1100064637

Senator LAUTENBERGS career cant possibly be summed up. though. on numbers alone. I have had the good fortune of serving with this man in the Senate since I came here. Sometimes the term "American Dream" is thrown around. and probably a bit too much. but if there were ever a Member of this body who exemplifies the American Dream. it is FRANK LAUTENBERG. the Senator from New Jersey. FRANK LAUTENBERG was born without privilege to immigrant parents. He served his country bravely in World War II and put himself through Columbia University on the GI bill. He is an example of what the GI Bill of Rights did for America.
