I am offering this amendment to take us a step in the right direction of securing our northern border. Most of the action that you are hearing today in this Chamber is dealing with the southern border. This amendment requires the Government Accountability Office to conduct a study examining the security of the northern border. Specifically. it requires that the GAO evaluate the Customs and Border Patrols ability to identify and eliminate all potential threats to the northern border under current funding levels. In closing. this is a commonsense amendment that will take us a step in the right direction towards securing our northern border. and I encourage my colleagues to support this amendment.
