Chairman. I intended to offer a clarifying amendment to the underlying bill. As currently constituted. funding is appropriated for Customs and Border Patrol to construct. renovate. equip. and maintain buildings and facilities necessary for enforcing our immigration laws. My amendment would have added the word "structures" in addition to facilities and buildings. This minor change would have made it clear that the Customs and Border Patrol can focus on the physical infrastructure needs of our border security apparatus with the funds appropriated by this bill. Securing our borders. as we know. requires a multifaceted approach. We need to do more than just maintain facilities and buildings.
