Madam President. I share in the disappointment of the evening with the Senator from California. I have been a part of this process. and I never thought in my first days as a Senator that immigration would be one of the signature issues I would deal with. However. it is one I will not shrink from and one I will continue to do all I can to see that we tackle this difficult problem our Nation faces and do something about it. It would be incredibly easy to walk away from this. In fact. we have seen how easy it is to say "amnnesty" and with that. satisfy one responsibility toward solving a problem our country faces today.
