But there is nothing inappropiate about the politics of compromise. That means we sacrifice the better for the good. The overall good is to get a bill passed which will deal with 12 million undocumented immigrants in a constructive way. It gives them an opportunity to escape the fear they now have that they will be detected at any time. It gives us an opportunity to identify those who are not contributing. who have criminal records. who ought to be deported. We cant deport all 12 million. but for the balance to be on the path toward citizenship. that is a very worthwhile. commendable objective as to the greater picture. We have comprehensive reforms.
